Rustler Shipholding Division: Setting the standards for environmentally-responsible ocean freight.
Rustler's Shipholding Division, launched in January 2026, aims to increase the bar on environmentally-responsible operation of Class-A Suezmax, VLCC, and ULCC oil tankers, in addition to container ships and other ocean freighters. In response to the recent influx of dark-market fleets coming under heavy fire and sanctions, Rustler's Shipholding Division is leading the way for the future of oil transport.
Rustler Shipholding Division | Fleet Overview
100% LNG- and dual-fuel ships. That's all the way to zero.
To achieve maximum environmental responsibility while still following through on contracts and deliveries, RSD operates a fleet composed entirely of LNG- and methanol-powered ships. Many of RSD's vessels are also dual-fuel capable, increasing future-proofing and enabling a superior degree of environmental responsibility.
Current Fleet
As of January 2026, Rustler Shipholding Division maintains a rapidly-growing fleet spanning a total of six vessels: 4 VLCCs and 2 Suezmax-grade tankers. RSD's future plan is to expand the fleet to include container ships and ULCC transporters to increase carrying capacity. (A full list of current vessels, including tonnage age, manufacturer, and other specs can be found in a table at the bottom of this page).
High Standards for Maintenance
Rustler Shipholding Division keeps an aggressive maintenace protocol to ensure that all vessels are in good working order and are efficient enough to meet standards. This includes, but is not limited to on a case-by-case basis, mandatory yearly inspections, retreatment of anti-fouling paints, hull repainting, and re-applciation for cathodic protection. With these standards, Rustler Shipholding Division is able to maximize fleet life and performance while avoiding costly sanctions caused by poor maintenance.
Efficient route planning and fleet management. Streamlining the shipping industry.
Rustler uses their in-house Fleet Management System (FMS) to plan routes and keep track of their various vessels. The system is designed to increase stability and effiency of shipping routes, making the transportation of large quantities of oil easier. Rustler also equips all their ships with advanced transponders and transmission beacons to ensure that all vessels can be tracked down to oil quantity and current route at all times.
Comprehensive crews and inspectors.
The Rustler Fleet Management System (FMS) incorporates maintenance logging and position sensors to streamline the inspection process. This makes it easier to stay on top of required procedures and share information across the department.
Expanding routes and minimizing dark-fleet risks.
Rustler Shipholding Division avoids shadow and dark-fleet risks through rigorous inspection, and also supports the continued operation of older vessels that would not be accepted into most major carriers. However, RSD remains a certified organization by multiple different enforcers of marine transport standards, so it's a comprehensive safe haven with both new vessels and older ones still carrying shipments. In summary, RSD is an alternative to heavily-sanctioned fleets with more comprehensive and regulated protocols.
